Respite from the Typhoon

It is half past 4 a.m. on a Monday, which means my weekend is almost over.

Mikey has no classes today as the governor announced the suspension of classesin anticipation of Typhoon Nika. The college kids are on term break, but I don't think the SHS students are, too, so I'm glad there's an announcement.

Much-needed Family Time

I spent some quality time with Mikey today. We had time to watch two movies. We found Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on HBO Asia and then Ghost Rider on Netflix. Somehow I liked the second Aquaman movie a lot more than I did the first. I didn't pay too much attention to Ghost Rider because I watched it a few times when it came out years ago, but he chose it and enjoyed it. Most of the time, I just like having my kid in the same room with me, even if we are quietly doing different things. So, I look forward to watching movies on the weekend, which is why I subscribe to many streaming services. Last week we watched Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans. Weekends are really nice.

I also spent some time washing my underwear, but only a few pairs. The cleaning lady/laundress did not report to work today, but I didn't mind. I'm sure she'll turn up next week. But for this week, I will give the chores a shot.

I don't enjoy doing chores. It feels like a punishment. However, I enjoy the feeling that a clean house and well-maintained belongings give me. That might be the mantra I need to be motivated to do the chores myself.

Also, beginning Wednesday last week, the townhouse beside mine began construction of a small area in their unit. That posed such a huge problem for me. The hammering was fine, but the drilling caused the building to vibrate, even my bed, so imagine the sensory overload I felt underneath my skin. Unfortunately, this sensation is something that headphones or earplugs can solve. Mikey asked the construction guys if it was possible to compromise and do drill work from 6 a.m. to 12 noon only, as I needed to be able to sleep by then. Such is the hassle of working at night. The noise of daytime can have some effects on my sleep and, by extension, my mental health.

I can't not have sound sleep, or else I will be at risk of a manic episode. I hope my neighbor would be nice about this. After all, surely they were aware that upon buying a townhouse, they had to compromise on some things with their neighbors. I hope they are not going to be assholes about it.

On another note, I still have my period. It is the 11th day, and it is still gushing like a waterfall. Fuck my uterine fibroids. If, by this evening, there is still no indication of it lessening, I will see a doctor. I don't want a repeat of November 2019, when I had to have a blood transfusion because my hemoglobin level was dangerously low. Stupid hormones.
